Sermon – “John the Precursor” – Garner Ted Armstrong Sermon, September 4, 1999

Matthew 3
“1In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, 2And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. 3For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.”

John the Baptist was to prepare the way for Jesus Christ’s ministry. In like manner has the Church of God been preparing the way for the return of Jesus Christ over the past almost 80 years since Herbert W Armstrong first took to the airwaves in 1934.

Christ himself said that, “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” (Matt. 24:14) That is what the Church of God, and this organisation, as part of the Church of God, has been doing since it’s inception on the day of Pentecost 31AD. But we now really are living in the end times and the witness of the coming Kingdom is being preached. Garner Ted Armstrong’s voice still chief among those doing that work.
