Pentecost is the day on which almost 2,000 years ago God gave an earnest of His Holy Spirit to those He had called, who had repented, and were baptised. It was the beginning of the New Testament church, the Church of God.
Here is a sermon that carefully examines the history of Pentecost, also known as the Feast of Sabbaths, Feast of Weeks and Feast of Firstfruits, from God’s giving to ancient Israel His annual Holy Days to the very day of Pentecost (meaning count fifty) when the Apostles and thousands of others gathered in Jerusalem were given God’s Holy Spirit – and the opportunity of salvation.
