GTA TV Ep. #0229 – “Christmas, the Untold Story” – Garner Ted Armstrong

What if Christmas had nothing to with the birth of Jesus Christ, would you keep it? What if it was demonstrated beyond any plausible or possible doubt that Christmas had it’s roots in pagan sun worship and was simply adopted by the fledgling Catholic Church in around 320 BC in order to entice pagans to join? Would you keep it?

Millions do in fact know the origins of Christmas, and that it has no connection with the actual date of the birth of Jesus Christ. But millions upon millions, even down and out pagans – that is those who follow other pagan religions, the Japanese, the Chinese among others come to mind – they keep it! Why?

Well perhaps the ones we know are pagans it is understandable. But what about those hundreds of millions of people who say they are christian? Christians following pagan practices? Surely not? Indeed surely.

We all need to take note of what God says:

Deut. 18: 9-14
“9When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. 10There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, 11Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. 13Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God. 14For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.”

Jeremiah 10:1-4

“1Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: 2Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.” Does that “vain custom sound anything like the ‘Christmas tree’ everyone is familiar with?

Indeed the christian world has learned the way of the pagans. Is God pleased?
